Polluted runoff from impervious surfaces is a major source of environmental and aquatic degradation. Construction, roads, parking lots, and roofs play a role in reducing the natural ground cover and increasing the impervious area, leading to an accompanying rise in the volume of surface runoff. As a result of urbanization and the accompanying increase in impervious areas, the temperature of surface runoff during storm events increases.
The pore spaces between the pavers in permeable paving allow surface water to percolate into the sub-grade and filter pollutants out relieving pressure on the storm water system.
Unlike other proprietary systems, Stone Paving USA's exclusive ECO-GreenT system can be used with virtually any type of paver. Using our patented "GetacT" biodegradable spacer, interesting design does not have to take a back seat to practicality. The conglomerate is strong enough to keep the paving blocks in place while its perforated structure allows it to be filled with a soil and gravel mixture that will facilitate grass growth and drainage. Once the grass has taken root the paved surface is firm enough to stand light vehicular traffic. Alternatively a suitably graded decorative material can be used in the spaced joints in lieu of grass if desired.
To integrate our standard pavers into the ECO-Green™ system we can produce them with ¼" spacers to allow filtration while maintaining ADA standards for accessibility.
